Before your appointment
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book an appointment directly with Seren Calon Heart Health without a referral. With your consent, we can communicate with your GP where appropriate to support continuity of care.
How do I book?
Booking an appointment is simple. Select the service that best meets your needs and click Book & Pay. You'll be able to choose a convenient appointment time online and will receive confirmation of your booking by email. If you're unsure which service is right for you, please get in touch and we'll be happy to advise.
How do I pay?
Payment is made securely online at the time of booking using our encrypted payment system. This confirms your appointment and helps us provide a smooth, efficient service. We accept all major debit and credit cards. If you have any questions regarding payment, please contact us before booking.
Can I claim through private medical insurance?
At present, Seren Calon Heart Health does not bill private medical insurers directly. Payment is made at the time of booking. If your insurer reimburses outpatient consultations, we recommend checking your policy before booking.
What if my symptoms become worse before my appointment?
If your symptoms worsen before your appointment, or you develop new symptoms such as chest pain, severe shortness of breath, collapse, or feel acutely unwell, please do not wait for your appointment. Call 999 immediately or seek urgent medical attention. Seren Calon Heart Health is not an emergency service.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Appointments can be cancelled or rearranged by contacting us as soon as possible. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy for full details.
Is this service suitable for me?
Our clinic is designed for low-risk assessment, reassurance, and preventative heart health care. If you're experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath, collapse, or any other symptoms suggesting a medical emergency, please call 999 immediately or attend your nearest Emergency Department.
Do I need to bring my medications with me?
If you take any regular medications, we recommend bringing an up-to-date list with you to your appointment. If possible, you may also bring your medication boxes or blister packs, particularly if you have recently started a new medication or are unsure of the names or doses. This helps ensure we have an accurate record of your current treatment.
Alternatively, if you use the NHS App, you can show us your current repeat medication list during your appointment.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring any recent hospital letters, clinic correspondence or copies of previous ECGs or cardiac investigations that you feel may be relevant to your appointment. If you wear glasses or hearing aids, please bring these with you. You are also welcome to bring a written list of any questions or concerns you would like to discuss.
During your appointment
How long is my appointment?
Appointment length depends on the service you book. Most consultations last between 30 and 60 minutes, allowing plenty of time to discuss your concerns, undertake any necessary assessments, and answer your questions.
What should I wear?
If you're attending for an ECG, we recommend wearing a two-piece outfit, as electrodes need to be placed on your chest. If needed, a gown or drape will be provided to maintain your privacy and dignity.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. You're welcome to bring a family member or friend if you would feel more comfortable doing so.
After your appointment
Will you contact my GP?
With your consent, we can provide a summary of your assessment and any recommendations to your GP to support your ongoing care.
What happens after my appointment?
You'll receive a clear explanation of your assessment and any findings. Where appropriate, you'll receive a written summary, copies of any ECG recordings, and recommendations for next steps. With your consent, a letter can also be sent to your GP.
